Rod Malloch
As an Architect I ran my own practice from 1993 to 2020, now retired. Alongside this I studied art with the Centre for Continuing Studies at Edinburgh College of Art and more recently with the Centre for Open Learning at the University of Edinburgh where I gained a Certificate of Education. Since winding down my architectural practice, I can spend more time on art.
In recent years I have been doing mostly landscape drawing and painting, some of which were then developed into abstract images. We have formed Aizle Artist Collective, initially comprising of the students and tutor from our university art class and have exhibited at the Dundas Street Gallery. Most recently I have been using oil paint and cold wax medium to form an impasto surface with the application of texture. I have a number of pieces on show at the current exhibition. I have also done collaborative pieces with Kirstine Drysdale where we add alternate layers to a painting until we agree they are finished. Some of these pieces are also on show in the exhibition.
